I only ask this, because that is the feeling I am getting lately. I went for two interviews this month for an apprentice hair stylist position. I got that "I'll call you." feeling when leaving the salons.
The first lady was very nice and told me that they usually hire stylists with the last few months of the cosmetology program to complete. This makes a lot of sense, because the aspiring stylist can take the state examination and become licensed, while learning the system at the salon. So when the head stylist feels that said stylist is ready to move on the next level there will not be any complications or delays.
At the second salon the woman interviewing me was older than me, and not even a stylist. I do not know, well yes I do know why she did not consider me. AGE.
I have not given up, I just will have to find another way to get into this industry.
My position is unique. I have 98% of the education from another state. My hours will not transfer to Georgia, and I do not have the funds to pay out of pocket for the training in Georgia at this time.
